Taking God at His Word Study at CBC to begin

Taking-God-at-His-Word-Kevin-DeYoung-Quote-4-1024x1024

We will begin a study of Taking God at His Word by Kevin DeYoung during our Sunday School hour (9:15-10:15am) this coming Sunday, September 7th. It will last 8 weeks. This is a great study on the doctrine of Scripture that I trust will help us see better the sufficiency, authority and clarity of the treasured Word of God.

Bontrager Poster-2

Cornerstone Baptist Church, 221 Third Street SW, (block west of courthouse) Orange City invites everyone to a night of gospel singing Saturday, September 13 at 7:00.  The Bontrager Family singers from eastern Iowa will be presenting their musical program. A free-will offering will be taken and following the musical program, refreshments will be served.

The Bontrager family consists of Marlin and Becky and their 10 children. They travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada sharing in word and song a unique, refreshing gospel/bluegrass style. They bring to the stage banjos, violins, keyboard, mandolin, guitars, dobro, harmonica and bass guitar.

Their one and only purpose is to glorify their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in all they do. Come and be blessed!

A culture of evangelism at Cornerstone Baptist

A culture of evangelism at Cornerstone Baptist

We will begin a new sermon series tomorrow in Jonah. The goal for the series is not to learn about a great whale of a story or more about the prophet Jonah. The goal is to learn more about Jesus and the gospel so that we will eagerly want to share it. Here is a link to an article on creating a culture of evangelism at church and also a book recommendation: Evangelism by Mack Stiles. Emily and I are reading it together right now. Highly recommended!

Looking forward to worshiping our Risen King tomorrow!

A few reminders

Just a reminder to everyone that we will have our morning worship tomorrow at the Windmill Park at 11:00am. Looks like the weather will be favorable. Be sure to bring your own lawn chairs to the park.

In the evening, we will gather at 6:00pm for our congregational worship. The text we will look at is Matthew 7:12-14: The Demands of Discipleship.

On Wednesday May 21, we will lead the worship service at the Pioneer Home, 7:00pm. I encourage anyone who is available to come out and love the residents at the Pioneer home by singing with them and visiting with them.
